Effect of Aged Binder Distribution on the Fracture Tolerance of Asphalt Mixtures with Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement

چکیده

This study investigated the effect of distribution aged binder from reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) on fracture tolerance recycled mixtures. Two RAP sources (one coarse, one fine), virgin polymer-modified binder, and four contents (0 %, 20 30 40 %) were used to produce a total seven Fracture was assessed in terms energy density (FED) at three levels: interstitial component (IC) (composed effective fine aggregate fraction), mixture. Binder tests conducted measure FED blends recovered binder. IC direct tension employed determine FED. Finally, Superpave indirect tensile performed obtain decreased with increasing content levels (binder, IC, mixture). More importantly, mixture exhibited almost identical reductions relative terms, while reduction less significant level. finding indicates that full blending scenario artificially created level did not occur levels. Furthermore, coarse yielded greater than RAP, which substantiates gradation controls Consequently, lower portion for mixtures coarser resulted better tolerance. The application newly developed guideline determining maximum allowable confirmed this allows finer despite stiffer

Evaluation of Fatigue Properties of Asphalt Mixtures Containing Reclaimed Asphalt using Response Surface Method

This paper presents the effects of different amounts of reclaimed asphalt on fatigue life of asphalt mixtures. Central composite method was used to design of experiments based on response surface method (RSM). Binder type (Pen 60/70 and Pen 85/100), reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) content (25, 50 and 75%) and loading strain (150, 250 and 350 micro strain) were selected as independent variables...

Evaluating the Performance of Hot Mix Asphalt with Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement and Heavy Vacuum Slops as Rejuvenator

Due to the high price of crude oil, and consequently asphalt binder, the application of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in pavement technology is widely considered. The present paper is the result of a laboratory research which was carried out to investigate the effects of adding a rejuvenating agent to Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) with RAP. To this end, test samples comprised of Aged Asphalt Binder ...
